Issue/Introduction

During the Aria Operations pre-upgrade assessment, the tool (APUAT) reports an error: "Checking /dev/sda (hard disk 1) Size" ," This error indicates that the reported size of /dev/sda is less than the expected 20GB."

Specifically, the lsblk command shows /dev/sda with a size of only 4GB, and blkid command reveals that /dev/sda is associated with a CDROM. This discrepancy raises concerns about potential upgrade issues.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18.X

Cause

/dev/sda will be the primary disk with Aria operations; this symptoms might arise if any changes or manual intervention were performed at the time of node deployment

Resolution

This specific pre-check error related to /dev/sda size can be safely ignored. The upgrade will go on regardless of the disk names mismatching the sizes as groupings are correct. Also, the upgrade cycle will automatically refreshes the partition layout to the correct configuration.

Note :  Take a snapshot of all Aria Operations nodes before initiating the upgrade

    * Start the upgrade from /admin UI
    * Monitoring the upgrade progress and wait for the upgrade to complete
    * Post-upgrade, validate the disk layout using lsblk and blkid commands
    * And carry on with other operation checks.

Please make sure to consolidate the snapshots post all the checks reporting green.
