CPU mismatch found in SDDC post hardware replacement

Issue/Introduction

Due to physical issues encountered in server, there might be situation wherein, the CPU has been replaced by vendor. Such changes might not provide room for preparation causing the mismatch of CPU information by SDDC Manager.
 

The article provides steps on what preparation needs to be made from SDDC manager, if hardware replacement is a planned activity. 

Upon hardware failure or other unavoidable circumstances, hardware information needs to be updated in SDDC database. As such, we suggest you to open a Support Case with Broadcom seeking further assistance.

Cause

Hardware replacement or changes, made external to SDDC manager isn't made aware or fails to sync up with updated information.

Resolution

Any changes to SDDC managed nodes, in this case, ESXi host, needs to initiated from SDDC. In the case of a planned activity, we need to perform the following:

  • Follow the steps to decommission ESXi Host as mentioned Broadcom Techdocs Host decommission
  • Follow the steps to commission ESXi Host as mentioned Broadcom Techdocs Host commission
