Issue/Introduction

vCLS VMs had names with proper UUID, and now appear with names of all zeros for the UUID of the VM.

  • vCLS VMs for other clusters of hosts are not affected.

Example: "vCLS-00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000"

Environment

vSphere 8.0

Cause

Required fields in host hardware BIOS/firmware missing values (e.g., S/N, etc.).

Resolution

Third Party issue as the UUID is provided by the hardware to the hypervisor. Hardware vendor must validate in the hardware level for the proper UUID of the host.

  • Upgrading the BIOS/firmware of the affected ESXi hosts has resolved the issue.
