TPX - Session Management Vman Session Management for z/OS

Issue/Introduction

After the loss of the connection to the coupling facility structure, CA TPX does not rebuild the connection and has to be restarted.

Environment

CA TPX for z/OS

Cause

A 'System Managed Rebuild' of the TPX structure will occur when all of the following are true:

  • TPX must be on a currently supported release. (Support for system managed rebuild was added as of CA TPX 5.1.)

  • The TPX CF structure must be defined with 'ALLOWAUTOALT(YES)'.

  • "ITEM NAME(SMREBLD) NUMBER(1)" must be specified when the CFRM couple data set is formatted.

Resolution

Without these prerequisites you will see messages like the following:

CF-EVT-EXIT: tpx_name CONNECTIVITY LOST, STRUCT xxxxxx

In this case, the TPX started tasks must be restarted in order to rebuild the connection to the structure.
