Issue/Introduction

SNMP E-Mail Notifications within Aria Operations for Logs 8.x are not making it to their destination.

Environment

Aria Operations for Logs 8.x

Cause

With multiple points of failure in the process, users experience issue eliminating possible causes.

Resolution

The test connection is obviously the easiest method of verifying functionality.  However often this is unsatisfactory to the user.  In this instance you can pull the log entry directly from the /var/log/vmware/loginsight/runtime.log file to verify functionality:

 

 [com.vmware.loginsight.commons.email.Mailer] [Attempt to send html e-mail (given token=######) from: '####@####.com.' to: '####@####.com.' with subject: 'VMware Aria Operations for Logs test email']

 was successfully dispatched to the configured SMTP server]

 

Additional Information

The provided example log file verifies that the e-mail notification was successfully dispatched to the SMTP Server and troubleshooting will need to continue outside of Aria Operations for Logs.
