Issue/Introduction

  • Logging in to the Aria Operations for Logs node using the root credentials, the shell prompt displays root@localhost
  • Running the hostname command on the node also returns localhost
  • Aria Lifecycle cannot sync Aria Operation for Logs, the error in the UI: LCMCOMOM80049, Failed to find the product...

Environment

Aria Operations for Logs 8.18.X

Resolution

  1. Ensure that all nodes have forward and reverse DNS entries on the configured DNS server.
  2. Ensure that the vApp options for the Aria Operations for Logs node has the "hostname" key configured in vCenter
  3. Take a snapshot without memory for the affected node(s)
  4. SSH the node using root credentials the run this command

    /opt/vmware/bin/init/set_hostname.py

  5. Logout of the SSH/console session and login again, the hostname should now be configured correctly (Lifecycle should now also be able to sync the environment)
