Health Status shows "Unknown" in vCenter Server Management Interface VAMI 5480 page

Issue/Introduction

  • Per restart vCenter, service applmgmt is always in stop status.
  • After restarting applmgmt service, the summary  Health Status in vCenter Server Management Interface (VAMI) shows Unknown.
  • vCenter Server other services are running normally.

 

Environment

vCenter Server 7.0.3

Cause

DB corruption.

Resolution

Before proceeding with the following actions, please ensure that you have either taken a snapshot with memory for vCenter or performed a file-based backup.

  1. Using root access vCenter CLI
  2. Check services status:
    # service-control --status
  3. Stop relate-services:
    # service-control --stop vmware-statsmonitor
    # service-control --stop applmgmt
  4. Remove appliance_stats files
    rm /var/vmware/applmgmt/appliance_stats*
  5. Restart stopped relate-services
    # service-control --start vmware-statsmonitor
    # service-control --start applmgmt
