Unable to install Telegraf agent on Linux VM integrated with Active Directory using a domain account

Issue/Introduction

• Linux VM is integrated with Active Directory (using SSSD)
• It is possible to SSH to the Linux VM using the Domain account intended for agent installation.
• Attempts to install the agent fail almost immediately.
• Checking "Recent Tasks" by browsing to following in the Aria Operations UI:
  
  Administration >> Control Panel >> Recent Tasks

Will display a message similar to the following for the install task:
  
  Bootstrap failed for all 1 VMs with names: [<VM_Name>] with operation type install belonging to vc with name: <vCenter_FQDN>

Resolution

Using a local account on the Linux VM is the supported method for installing a Telegraf agent.
