Issue/Introduction

Does  Compress Data Compression for IMS utilize ZEDC behind the scenes to improve the compression on segment level if that hardware feature is enabled?

z/os ZEDC

Resolution

No zEDC internal to the processor is not exploited by Compress. Compress uses its own compression algorithms.
There are no compatibility issues but the feature is not used by Compress.
