Attempts to deploy an exact copy of a vApp template in VMware Cloud Director results in a non-progressing UI

Issue/Introduction

This is a software bug in VMware Cloud Director that causes deployment of an exact copy of a vApp template to fail. The UI does not progress, and Developer Tools show the API call looping between two GET requests.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.3.3.4 build 21922251

Cause

This behaviour is caused by a software bug in VCD, where network settings are updated only when the template is customisable and includes a vApp network. If these conditions are not met, the UI fails to progress.

Resolution

There is no current workaround for this issue. Customers should upgrade to VMware Cloud Director 10.3.3.4 build 24395664.

Steps to upgrade:

1. Open a support case with Broadcom Support to obtain the required update packages and OVA.
2. Follow the VCD upgrade documentation to apply the update.
3. Verify that deployment of copied templates now completes successfully.
