Failed/Predictive failure disk fails to remove from disk group

Issue/Introduction

When using the vSphere GUI and trying to remove a faulty disk, the disk will sometimes fail to be removed

Environment

VMware vSAN (all versions)

Resolution

When removing faulty disks from a disk group, or removing a failed disk group, it is better to do so using esxcli commands. Please see: How to manually manage and configure a vSAN disk group using esxcli commands

If unable to use esxcli, you can also follow the below procedure from the GUI. 

1. Put the host in maintenance mode
2. Unmount the disk group in question
3. Delete the faulty capacity disk
4. Mount the disk group back again
