Issue/Introduction

When we try to deploy a VM to one of the cloud zone, we notice below error:

"Provisioning operation failed. Error from vCenter: The resource vim.dvs.DistributedVirtualPort is not available in vim.dvs.DistributedVirtualPortgroup DSwitch_####-DVUplinks-##

Environment

Aria Automation 8.x

Cause

When adding an endpoint to Aria Automation, we import networks (in a random order) and store them in a database. During allocation, we typically select the first available network, in this case, it is always an Uplink network, causing a vSphere error.

Resolution

This is the expected and by design behavior of the product.

Workaround:

  1. Login to Aria Automation UI
  2. Navigate to Infrastructure tab either from to Assembler/service broker
  3. Select Networks from Resources option
  4. Select a network where VM needs to be provisioned.
  5. Check the "Default for zone" box which will make it the preferred network selection for a given zone
  6. Save the network.
