Issue/Introduction

Converting a baseline-based cluster to a single image cluster fails with error "Payload of unsupported Workload Management solution has been identified on the following host(s)".

YYYY-MM-DDYHH:MM:SSZ warning vmware-vum-server[23991] [Originator@6876 sub=ImageManager::EnablementManager] [EnablementManager 1971] Payload of unsupported Workload Management solution has been identified on the following host(s): esxi01.example.org. This will block PMan enablement.
YYYY-MM-DDYHH:MM:SSZ warning vmware-vum-server[23991] [Originator@6876 sub=ImageManager::EnablementManager] [EnablementManager 1971] 'spherelet' component/vib belongs to 'Workload Management' unsupported solution. Hosts containing this component/vib: esxi01.example.org. This will block PMan enablement.

 

Environment

VMware vSphere 7.x/8.x with Tanzu 

Resolution

To convert the baseline cluster to image cluster, you must first switch the cluster which is not yet enabled for Workload Management to use images and then enable vSphere Supervisor on that cluster.
