VMware SDDC Manager

Issue/Introduction

This article guides on analyzing the impact on SDDC Manager if a user changes the IP range on a VCF created NSX-T Static pool directly from the NSX Manager.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 4.x
VMware Cloud Foundation 5.x

Cause

Due to erroneous details in the Workload domain deployment spec, the IP pool may get created with an incorrect IP range.

Resolution

VCF does not persist/manage the NSX-T IP pool configuration.

The input provided by the user as part of the spec is passed to NSX for the creation. Subsequently, in order to check whether static IP pool is configured, VCF workflows query NSX-T managers for the same.

Hence, the IP range on the static pool can be edited directly from NSX manager (Networking -> IP Address Pools -> Subnets on the created pool).

No changes are required to be made to SDDC Manager database.
