Issue/Introduction

  • Standalone Aria Automation Orchestrator (vRO) upgrade attempt throws the message "Upgrade cannot be executed in this state".

Environment

  • VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator 8.18.1 

Cause

  • One of the previous upgrade attempts is incomplete or stuck, and its state needed to be manually canceled before proceeding with the upgrade/patch. 

Resolution

  • Steps to fix this : 
    • Cancel the old/existing upgrade attempt : 

vracli upgrade exec --cancel 

    • Retry the upgrade/update now.
