Issue/Introduction

In NCM, you may need to move a device (or multiple devices) from one network to a different network.

Environment

NCM 10.1.X

Resolution

Below are the steps to move device(s) from one network to another.

  • On GUI, navigate to Tools -> System Administration, select Network -> Devices -> Manage. In example here, device needs to be moved from network 'Natya' to 'Test'

  • Select and remove the Device(s) which needs to be removed

You'll now see the device on the left-hand side of the menu (under devices instead of Network)

  • Click on Manage, the below window will appear, click Yes.

  • Navigate to second network on  System Administration  window. Select Devices -> Manage.

  • Select Unclassified and click Apply. The device which was earlier removed from first network would be on the left side bottom of the window. Select the device and click Add and Manage.

You'll then see device shift to the menu on the right

  • The device is now part of the second network 'Test'.

After the device(s) move operation, an automatic pull configuration job on moved devices is triggered by NCM.

Additional Information

Note, in this overview: credentials associated to all the devices are defined at 'Global' level.
