Issue/Introduction

When creating new VMs/vApps from templates into the vCloud Director tenant, the operation fails with these error messages...

  • "The operation failed because no suitable resource was found."
  • "1 hubs eliminated because: Only contains rejected VM Groups(s): [[VM-GROUP]]  Rejected hubs: resgroup-XXXXXX
     - PlacementException NO_FEASIBLE_PLACEMENT_SOLUTION"

Environment

  • VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

This issue occurs if the template vm is a part of a VM/Host Rule that is Disabled in vCenter. 

Resolution

Re-enable the VM/Host Rule in vCenter or Remove the Template VM from the VM/Host Rule.
