Issue/Introduction

  • When attempting to deploy an OVA via URL or file-based within vCenter using an SSO administrator, the following errors may appear:

    Unable to process template
    Access to perform the operation was denied

Resolution

Workaround

  1. SSH to the ESXi host via root
  2. Temporarily stop the host's vpxa service to stop communication to the vCenter Server

    /etc/init.d/vpxa stop
    /etc/init.d/hostd restart

  3. Deploy the OVA/OVF via ESXi UI
  4. After successful deployment, restart the vpxa service.

    /etc/init.d/vpxa start

  5. Verify that the ESXi Host is connected to vCenter successfully and the deployed OVF is visible in the inventory.
