Issue/Introduction

When uploading an OVA as a vApp Template using a URL as a source, the upload fails with the error:

Error: [ ########-####-####-####-########d47e ] Argument ' https://example.com/<ova name>' is not a valid URL. Illegal character in scheme name at index 0: https://example.com/<ova name>

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

This issue occurs when there is a blank space character at the start of the URL being used as a source for creating a vApp template.

Resolution

Ensure that there are no illegal characters, such as a blank space character, at the start of the URL being used to upload the OVA.

For more information on deploying a vApp template from an OVA file, see the Create a vApp Template from an OVF File Using Your VMware Cloud Director Tenant Portal.
