Unable to update VMware Cloud Director with "Error validating the digital signature of the update manifest"

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to upgrade VMware Cloud Director on the CLI with "vamicli update --latest" the following error is received back for "Error validating the digital signature of the update manifest".

In the /opt/vmware/var/log/vami/vami.log we can see an error opening or reading the following: file:/tmp/local-update-package/manifest/manifest-latest.xml.sig

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

When stating the local repository there is no delimiter between file and / creating an error.

Resolution

Include a delimiter with extra forward slashes when pointing to the local files similar to:

Incorrect: vamicli update --repo file://root/local-update-repo

Correct: vamicli update --repo file:///root/local-update-repo
