Issue/Introduction

This KB describes the procedure for troubleshooting when SNMP polling or MIB retrieval fails.

Resolution

1. Please check whether the SNMP settings are correct in red square in the following screenshot.
In particular, when using SNMPv2c, please check that the 'Community' name is correct. As for SNMPv3, please verify that the username and password are correct.

As for the settings in "Edge Access", please check the correct option is selected. If "Allow the following IPs" is selected, please check the IP address of the monitoring device is entered in the input box directly below.

2. Please check the connectivity between the monitoring device and the Edge by ping or something.
If there is no communication, please check the device setting (including routing table) on the access route between the monitoring device and Edge.

3. Please check SNMP packet from monitor device reaches the Edge by capturing packet between the monitoring device and the Edge.
If an SNMP packet reaches the Edge and there is no reply from the Edge, please inform Broadcom technical support.
