Issue/Introduction

Receiving the following alarm randomly, however, the Db connection is working and we can see QOS and alarms being generated.

Cannot connect to database instance <DB connection name>: (Profile: <profile name>/check_dbalive/Connect - COM Error: Code= Source=Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers Description=[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user '<user name>'. ).

Environment

  • sqlserver v5.61

Cause

  • The issue is due to a 3rd party library in sqlserver v.5.61. 

Resolution

  1. The issue will be fixed in the next release of sqlserver probe.

    Workaround:

    1. Downgrade sqlserver probe to version 5.60 (which is attached to this KB)
    2. Update the password for all connections
    3. Deactivate all the sqlserver profiles
    4. Activate the probe
    5. Tested all of the connections
    6. Activate the profiles
