Issue/Introduction

Symptom:

  • Alerts received for certain VMs which are replicating using vSphere Replication:

The following Virtual Machines are not replicating properly:
<VM-Name> last replicated successfully at **YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SS**

  • This alert might be triggered in the vSphere Client UI of the vCenter Server: "No connection to VR Server: Disk size mismatch"
  • In the /var/run/log/vmkernel.log from Source ESXi which hosts the replicating VM reports momentary connection issue.
(Note : Following logs does not repeat endlessly and is found to have one or two entries only)

2025-01-25T10:22:12.362Z cpu59:81810094)WARNING: Hbr: 5093: Failed to establish connection to [##.###.##.##]:31031 (groupID=GID-6f2207f5-####-####-####-ea6d377c8520): The set of disks on the replication server doesn't match

  • VM replication job in Site Recovery UI shows the status as 'OK'. No errors reported.

Environment

vSphere Replication 8.x
vSphere Replication 9.x

Resolution

1. Validate if the VM has any issue with the mismatch of the disks as stated in KB 334256

2. If no mismatch of disks is found as per above KB and status of the replication job in Site Recovery UI is good, the above alert could be ignored.
