When attempting to customize a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 or higher it fails with the following error:
in the /var/log/vmware-imc/toolsDeployPkg.txt
file on the Guest OS, you see an error similar to:
2025-01-30T13:06:47 DEBUG: opening file for writing (/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-xxxx)
2025-01-30T13:06:47 ERROR: Fatal error occurred during customization !! Customization halted
2025-01-30T13:06:47 ERROR: Error : No such file or directory:Error writing data to file (/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-xxxx). No such file or directory at /var/run/.vmware-imgcust-dYgea8Y/scripts/Utils.pm line 655
VMware Cloud Director 10.x
VMware vCenter Server 7.X
VMware vCenter Server 8.X
The issue is caused due to customization script failing to locate the file "/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-xxxx
"
Starting from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 and onwards ifcfg-rh plugin is no longer supported by Red Hat therefore the directory /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts
will no longer exist and if it does exist it will be ignored.
This issue is resolved in VMware vCenter Server 8.0 U3b available at Broadcom Downloads.
