Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • Logging onto vSphere Client for the vCenter Server results in the following error:
[400] An error occurred while processing the authentication response from the vCenter Single Sign-On server. Details: HTTP error code: 400, status: BadRequest, sub status: Invalid condition value in token. If this is issued by legitimate IDP, it is possibly caused by clock skew or slow response due to network issues.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.x

Cause

If there is a time skew services can stop communicating correctly please check the following:

  • Verify that the time is correct and and there isn't a time skew.
  • Check that the services are started.
  • Verify that the certs are not expired.

Resolution

  • Renew certs on the vCenter. If the certs haven't expired
  • Try to restart the services on the vCenter using the command: # service-control --stop --all && service-control --start --all
  • Once services have started try to log in.
  • If restarting services doesn't fix log in issues, restart the vCenter appliance
