Issue/Introduction

After the edge software upgrade activity, the SFP module in the SFP1 slot is not detected and enters the recovery mode due to repeated FW resets

Environment

All SDWAN software version

38XX hardware

Cause

When the i40e driver fails to initialize the SFP1 port, the firmware will enter the recovery mode, and the interface will be down.

The issue appears to be related to the network adapter and the i40e driver, rather than the Edge SD-WAN software.

Resolution

Following these steps will prevent the firmware from entering recovery mode, allowing the SFP module to initialize properly.

1. Power off the Edge device.

2. Physically disconnect the power cord from the Edge.

3. Remove and reinsert the SFP module into the SFP1 slot.

4. Wait for 2-3 minutes.

5. Reconnect the power supply and restore power to the device.

Additional Information

Preventive fix will be added in the VeloCloud software release 6.1.1.0.
