Issue/Introduction

In a Windows Server Failover Cluster, the Cluster Validation Wizard completes with the following error:

"Disk 0 does not support SCSI-3 Persistent Reservations commands needed by clustered storage pools that use the Storage Spaces subsystem. Some storage devices require specific firmware versions or settings to function properly with failover clusters. Contact your storage administrator or storage
vendor for help with configuring the storage to function properly with failover clusters that use Storage Spaces."

Environment

VMware vSphere 7.x

VMware vSphere 8.x

Cause

VMware vSphere does not utilize Microsoft Storage Spaces, and thus, the check is not applicable.

Resolution

If the Cluster Validation Wizard completes with this warning, you can safely ignore it. The warning is not relevant to your environment as it pertains to Microsoft Storage Spaces, which doesn't apply to VMware vSphere. The cluster validation can proceed without issues even if this warning appears.
