Issue/Introduction

After updating vCenter to 7.0U3v, 8.0U3b or later, some performance metrics (e.g. CPU > Ready) in 'Last year' chart shows higher values than before.

Environment

vCenter Server 8.0U3b or later

vCenter Server 7.0U3v or later

Cause

In versions of vCenter Server less than 7.0U3v, 8.0U3b, there was an error in the calculation logic when rolling up from 'Last month' to 'Last year'.

For example, although the rollup type for CPU > Ready is summation, when rolled up to 'Last year', it was calculated as the average of 3 intervals starting from a random hour during the day, leading to incorrect aggregate values when the data is rolled up to daily partition. Thus it gave the wrong value of the average in previous vCenter Server versions.

Resolution

The calculation logic was fixed in vCenter 7.0U3v, 8.0U3b or later.

The calculated values before updating to vCenter 7.0U3v, 8.0U3b are incorrect, and the values after the update are correct.
