vSAN -- Host Maintenance Mode fails with "General vSAN error"

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to put a vSAN Host in Maintenance Mode you will see the error:

"Failed to enter maintenance mode due to one or more candidate objects for migration being currently inaccessible"

 

Environment

vSAN 7.x

vSAN 8.x

Cause

The error occurs because inaccessible vSAN Object(s) exist in the vSAN Cluster (where the affected Host is a member of).

Resolution

Investigate the existing inaccessible Objects by reviewing this KB Dealing with inaccessible objects in a vSAN cluster.
