Issue/Introduction

If you connect to the Aria Operations for Logs UI using a reverse proxy, UI elements that rely on API calls to gather information do not show data.

In the example below, we can see that the vSphere integration menu does not display any data.

In the browser dev console, on the network tab, we can see the response 'Only SSL connections are allowed' to the 'vsphere' API call.

Environment

Aria Operations for Logs 8.x

Cause

One of the benefits of connecting to an endpoint through a reverse proxy is SSL termination. By default, Operations for Logs requires SSL to connect to the API server.

Resolution

Disable the SSL requirement for the API Server in the Aria Operations for Logs configuration menu.

  • Login to Aria Operations for Logs
  • Navigate to the 'Configuration' menu from the pop-out menu on the left of the UI.
  • Click 'SSL'
  • Under the title 'API SERVER SSL', uncheck the button, which will turn grey when disabled.
  • Click 'Save' to confirm the change.
