Problem:
DFSMShsm Real Time Message Collection is not working.
This is accompanied by the following related messages in the CA Vantage log:
VAN0760I DFSMShsm Real Time Message Collection Hook: ARCILOG VERSION CHECK FAILED
VAN0711E DFSMShsm Message Collection Initialization Failed, RC=36
Environment:
z/OS, CA Vantage r12.6 and r14.0, with the DFSMShsm interface
Cause:
CA Vantage fails to hook into CSECT ARCILOG of the DFSMShsm module ARCCTL.
Resolution:
At first, make sure PTF RO80927 - HSM ARCILOG DYNAMIC HOOK is applied for Vantage r12.6. In this case, the MSGEXXXX DD output should contain a message showing … VANHSMIN PI009533 ... and PI009533 corresponds to RO80927. This PTF introduces dynamic hooking. HSM ARCILOG version specific hooks are no longer needed. For Vantage r14.0 this is included in the official r14.0 GA version of INC05.
If the problem persists with r12.6 PTF RO80927 applied or with Vantage r14.0 INC05, then probably another product has hooked into DFSMShsm first, like for example BMC's Mainview Messaging. In this case you would find the following message in the HSM task log:
SVO1130I MAINVIEW SRM HSM COLLECTOR INSTALLED
Verify that there is no STEPLIB other than the IBM STEPLIBs in the HSM task concatenation. Vantage HSM messaging stops working if there is another tool to monitor HSM messages installed on the system. If this is the case, remove that library from the HSM task STEPLIB concatenation, restart the HSM task and start Vantage again. HSM messaging should work then.

Diagnostics to determine the ARCILOG version:
· The MSGEXXXX output of the Vantage task displays the ARCILOG version, for example:
VANHSMIN A7F4002000A02DC1 x4 ..ARCILOG .15065.081232.OA46106.UA76414 VER=210x4
· The output to the SNAPHSM DD of the Vantage task contains a dump of the entire ARCILOG module
· As an alternative review the output of the following DUMPT:
