Issue/Introduction
Objects in Aria Operations have been discovered, but the historical metrics are empty.
Clicking Validate Connection in the adapter configuration page returns Test Successful
The status of the adapter collecting the object's data is OK
There are no configurations in the adapter (including Advance Settings) limiting the data collection
The credential configured for the adapter has appropriate permissions to collect the data
There was a recent significant outage in the environment that effected the Aria Operations cluster
Environment
VMware Aria Operations 8.x with HA or CA enabled
Cause
A recent outage in the environment caused a split brain scenario between the primary and primary replica node in the Aria Operations cluster causing multiple duplicate objects to be created.
Resolution
Navigate to the Operations > Configurations > Inventory Management page
In the Type here to apply filters box, type the name of the object that has no historical data and hit Enter
Review the results to determine if there are multiple objects with the same name
Note: If no duplicate objects are seen, the next steps in the KB should NOT be used.
Review the Collection State and Collection Status icons to identify the object that is currently collecting data
Highlight the row of the object with data collection occurring and click the Go To Details button (graph icon)
Verify that current and historical metrics are collected for this object.
Return to the Inventory Management page
Highlight the rows for any of the duplicate objects and click the Delete Object button (X icon)
(Optional) If the relationships for the object that is collecting the data are incorrect, the adapter instance can be recreated
Navigate to Administration > Integrations
Click the 3 dots next to the adapter instance collecting the data for object and select Edit
Note the current configuration (including Advanced Settings)
Click Cancel
Click the 3 dots next to the adapter instance collecting the data for object and select Delete
DO NOT CHECK THE "Delete related objects" CHECKBOX!
Click Delete
Use the steps from the documentation to recreate the adapter instance using the details noted in step 9.c.
