Network adapter shows as connected and online in the guest OS, but stops communicating on the network. You see packets out, but no packets coming in. Network interface is not pingable.
In troubleshooting you can get the adapter back online by performing the following steps:
1. Disable the adapter in the guest OS
2. Disable (disconnect) the adapter in the vSphere UI
3. Enable (connect) the adapter in the vSphere UI
4. Enable the adapter in the guest OS.
This can be caused by upstream QoS configuration. If there is not enough bandwidth to service the workload all communication can be dropped from lower priority VLANs.
This requires hardware remediation as the switches will need more bandwidth, or more switchports will need to be utilized to provide the desired throughput.
