TPX - Session Management

Issue/Introduction

Security Action/Message Table (SAMT) can be configured to specify how TPX will respond to return codes and messages from the security system.
The SAMT (table) consists of entries for return codes and messages.
For each return code there is an entry with a corresponding action to take or a reference to a message that TPX will display, or both.

When the software receives a return code or message from the security system, it will check for an entry in the SAMT for that return code or message.
If an entry exists, it will take the corresponding action, depending on what has been specified.

Depending on the security system, the software can receive return codes, message IDs, or both from the security system.
What does action 'N'  and 'I' translates to in understandable language.

Resolution

Here are all of the possible values for the Action field within a SAMT entry:

  • A - TPX allows the user to continue with the sign-on.
  • R - TPX rejects the user's attempt to sign-on and displays any messages at the TPX logo panel.
  • P - TPX reprompts the user for logon information.
  • L - TPX logs off the terminal, returning it to VTAM.
  • N - None.  Informational message, no action is required.
  • I - Ignore. A new password should be ignored.
