Issue/Introduction

In DX UIM 23.4CU2 and earlier the Metric viewer in OC is not able to display multiple QOS targets if the targets come from custom queries (hence stored as DynamicCheckpoint > User Defined)

For Example, we have created some custom queries with the Oracle and SQLserver probe. When adding them to one single graph in OC Metric Viewer only one is showing.

This occurs with any "User Defined" Metrics.

When creating the graph for the metrics picked one by one, they show correctly, the problem is limited to when more than one is placed in the same graph.

Environment

  • DX UIM 23.4CU2
  • SQLserver/oracle probe any version (User Defined Metrics only)

Cause

For any user-defined metrics, the metricTypeId remains constant because we do not create metric type IDs dynamically. However, DX UIM generates different Quality of Service (QoS) for each user-defined metric, resulting in the creation of separate RN* tables. The metric viewer expects a single RN* table for each metricTypeId. In this case, the RN tables are different, even though the metricTypeId is the same, which is causing the problem.

Resolution

We have addressed this issue by setting the uniqueness with the combination of the QoS and ciName together.

The fix for this issue will be available in DX UIM 23.4 CU4 expected for later this year 2025
