Issue/Introduction

When attempting to upload media files to VMware Cloud Director the jobs will stay at 1% or pending.

Environment

10.x

Cause

Network issues prevent the upload jobs from proceeding or completing within the tenant environment.

Resolution

We can narrow down the issue to specific parts of networking:

- Latency can be testing with packet captures and traces from source machine to VMware Cloud Director.
- Smaller .iso or .ova files can be used to monitor for completion. Larger items may continue to fail.
- Loadbalancing can be ruled out by connecting directly to the primary VMware Cloud Director cell. The steps are here: How to bypass a Load Balancer in Cloud Director using Hosts file
- Tasks can be cleaned up in the VMware Cloud Director table: Optimize Cloud Director UI Performance by reducing the size of the audit_trail table
- Deploy a virtual machine for testing on the same local network as VMware Cloud Director. Test latency between the two present there as well.

Most commonly this may be a local networking issue or an issue with loadbalancer configuration outside of VMware Cloud Director.
