Issue/Introduction

Is there any reason the why the " LoggerConfig.properties " and the " AffWebServices.properties " files exist under the " <SPS Installation Home>:\CA\secure-proxy\Tomcat\federation_apps\ " path also?

If " Security Token Service (STS) " Web Service Deployment is also a Webapp just like affwebservices why does it exist in a separate folder instead of  <SPS Installation Home>:\CA\secure-proxy\Tomcat\webapps\?

Does the " Security Token Service (STS) " Web Service Deployment has a dependency on  below two files, that is the reason you are keeping a separate copy of the same files and if we use  " Security Token Service (STS) " Web Service Deployment only we need to make changes to these files?

------ Location:

<SPS Installation Home>:\CA\secure-proxy\Tomcat\federation_apps\ LoggerConfig.properties
<SPS Installation Home>:\CA\secure-proxy\Tomcat\federation_apps\AffWebServices.properties

Environment

Version: 12.8.xx.xx (Applicable to all the supported releases)
Environment: SMFED (Federation)

Resolution

As we are aware we would need to use the " LoggerConfig.properties " file which is located under " <SPS Installation Home>:\CA\secure-proxy\Tomcat\webapps\affwebservices\WEB-INF\classes\ " location for Federation Web Services Logs (AffWebServices and FWSTrace logs).

We are " NOT " using the " LoggerConfig.properties " file which is located under " <SPS Installation Home>:\Program Files\CA\secure-proxy\Tomcat\federation_apps " location for any logging at all.

Kindly note that the " federation_apps " (<SPS Installation Home>:\CA\secure-proxy\Tomcat\federation_apps) folder is utilized in the creation and configuration of " Security Token Service (STS) " Web Service Deployment.

A separate folder has been created because the " Security Token Service (STS) " Web Service Deployment allows users to create any number of applications but affwebservices does not permit it.

We can utilize the above mentioned files based on the requirement when we use " Security Token Service (STS) " Web Service Deployment.
