Do Rally artifacts roll up to the parent project release when the release was created with the cascade option

Issue/Introduction

Do artifacts roll up to the parent project release when the release was created with the cascade option?  Meaning from a parent project a release timebox was created that cascaded to the child projects.  Can I see from the release created at the Parent level all of the artifacts in the release created at the child project level?  Similar to User Stories. 

I didn't think so, as it appears the releases are independent even though they were created at the same time by the cascade function.  However, I see in the help documentation there is a note in the Working with Releases document that refers to the hierarchical team's project must have releases with matching Name, Start Date, and Release Date fields to take advantage of the rollup capability. it goes on to say "This allows you to take advantage of the Rally rollup charts and views."

What rollup is this referring to?  Should I be able to see the artifacts in a release for a child project from the parent project release?

Resolution

• The cascade duplicates the Release into any child projects if you have your project scoping set to include child projects.  This is used when creating a Release.
• Time boxes don’t actually "roll up" like User Stories do BUT if you use a chart like Release Burnup, Cumulative flow…. any release charts, those numbers will roll up into that chart if you are at top level project and include child projects.
• Essentially, any page that is Release scoped or filtered or has the timebox option (and "Release" is selected) will add the numbers up if you include the child projects in your project scoping. 
• For this to occur the Release Name, start date, and end date must match perfectly.  That is why people like to use the cascade option.  To ensure all Releases match so they can all be included in any totals.
