How to set the default Timeframe view for interfaces from DAILY to 8 hours or any other time.

Environment

NFA   All versions

Resolution

You can change the default view setting in the web.config:

  1.  RDP to the NFA console. Back up, then edit the following file:

         <install drive>:\Netqos\Reporter\NetQoS.ReporterAnalyzer.WebSite\web.config

  1.  Find the line that contains "fixed.range" in the file. The section will look something like this:

<!-- Demo properties (for range, ""2"" = 1 day -->

<!-- <add key=""fixed.date"" value=""05/26/2005 13:45"" />

<add key=""fixed.range"" value=""2"" />-->

<!-- Optional IPaddress or name of NPC links back into SA. Blank for dynamic. -->

  1. The value of "2" contained in that line is what sets the default value of the charts to 1 day. Here are the other possible values:

    1 = 8 hours
    2 = 1 day
    3 = 1 week
    4 = 1 month
    5 = 1 year
    6 = 1 hour
    7 = 2 hours

    We can change this value to "1" to represent 8 hours.

    Also, the "-->" at the end of that line means that that line is actually commented out. So, what we need to do is move the "-->" to the line above the one we edited, so that the section looks like this:

    <!-- Demo properties (for range, ""2"" = 1 day -->

    <!-- <add key=""fixed.date"" value=""05/26/2005 13:45"" />-->

    <add key=""fixed.range""value=""1"" />

    Now save the config file then log out and log back into NFA.
