Issue/Introduction

"The system time differs from the last synchronized time, making it difficult to confirm if synchronization is occurring consistently."

Cause

The ESXi Host's "Last time sync" value in vCenter is updated only when synchronization fails and then comes back. Values are not updated even when the Refresh button is pressed.

•    In the vmkernel.log files, messages similar to this indicate that ntpd is successfully connecting to the remote NTP server:

[YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SS] Wa(180) vmkwarning: cpu2:1000082272)WARNING: NTPClock: Adj:1771: system clock synchronized to upstream time servers

Resolution

The 'Last time sync' column displays the timestamp when synchronization successfully began.
