Issue/Introduction

We have created a SpectroWatch for some interfaces to alarm if the value of the portDuplex attribute id 0x12b45 is 1 (half duplex).

After creating the watch, we noticed that some of the ports have a value of 0 (N/A).

How does DX NetOps Spectrum determine the value of the portDuplex attribute?

Environment

Version: Any
Component: Models

Cause

Spectrum populates the value of the portDuplex attribute id 0x12b45 according to the value of the dot3StatsDuplexStatus attribute id 0x12b28 for the interface. For these interfaces, there is no entry in the dot3StatsDuplexStatus attribute.

To verify:

  • Find and select the interface model in Spectrum
  • Right mouse click on the model and select Component Detail from the menu
  • Click on the Attributes tab
  • Filter for and select the dot3StatsDuplexStatus attribute id 0x12b28
  • If the value is red boxed, then that means the interface does not have a value so Spectrum sets the value of the portDuplex attribute to 1 (N/A).

Resolution

None as the device populates the value of the dot3StatsDuplexStatus attribute for the interface.
