Unable to edit the networks for a powered on Virtual Machine in VMware Cloud Director UI when snapshots are present

Issue/Introduction

• Unable to change or update network of a powered on Virtual Machine (VM) when snapshot of the VM is present and the snapshot includes memory.
• The EDIT option for the networks is not highlighted when the snapshot including the memory is present for the VM in VMware Cloud Director (VCD) UI.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x

Cause

VCD does not support modifications to NIC when the virtual machine is running on a memory snapshot

Resolution

Two workarounds are available.

1. Power off the VM which includes the snapshot with memory and the EDIT option will be highlighted in the network section of the VM for updating the networks.
2. Take a snapshot of the VM without the memory, you can still EDIT the Networks of the powered on VM.
