How to fix AUD OS ERROR messages in Oracle alert log

Issue/Introduction

Problem 

I am running eHealth on a 64-bit Windows server and noticed the following errors appearing in the Oracle 11g alert log:

AUD: OS Error = 5 encountered while writing audit record
AUD: OS Error = 31 encountered while writing audit record
AUD: OS Error = 1717 encountered while writing audit record

Environment

eHealth 6.3.2 or higher
Windows 2008 R2, Windows 2012

Cause

Oracle is unable to write to the Windows event log, most likely because they have reached maximum size. The numbers are OS errors; for example:

c:\>net helpmsg 5
Access is denied.

Resolution

Clear the Windows event logs from command line or through the Event Viewer.
