Issue/Introduction

  • Navigating to Administration > Secure Hosts > Content Libraries.
  • Clicking CHECK FOR UPDATES under either:
    • Compliance Content - Secure Hosts
    • Vulnerability Content
  • Results in the following error on the UI: "Compliance package update failed. Internal Error." and "Error(5000): Internal Error"

Environment

VMware Aria Automation Config 8.x
VMware Aria Automation Config for Secure Hosts 8.x (SecOps)

Cause

The issue occurs due to the migration of the SaltStack repo to Broadcom. As a result, the content update requests fail when attempting to connect to the previous download portal "enterprise.saltstack.com/secops_downloads". The URL is no longer accessible, leading to connection errors such as:

  • HTTPSConnectionPool(host='enterprise.saltstack.com', port=443): Max retries exceeded with url: /secops_downloads/digest.json (Caused by NewConnectionError)
  • socket.gaierror: [Errno -2] Name or service not known

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must manually download the compliance and vulnerability content and ingest it into Aria Automation Config.

Follow these steps:

  • Manually Download the Content: Obtain the required content package from the appropriate source provided by Broadcom.
  • Ingest the Content into SaltStack: Follow the detailed ingestion steps as outlined in the official documentation for your Aria Automation Config version: Manual content ingestion for SaltStack SecOps Compliance
  • Verify the Ingestion: Ensure the ingested content is reflected under Administration > Secure Hosts > Content Libraries.
  • Recheck compliance and vulnerability status to confirm updates.
