vApp deployment Error: An error occurred during host configuration

When deploying a vApp you might see an error as shown above. Looking at the ESXi vpxa logs you will see these:

-->    text = "Failed to attach vif uuid to network nsx.LogicalSwitch:########-####-####-####-############,Failed to send VIF RPC request"

-->    msg = "An error occurred during host configuration."

--> }

Further when looking at nsx-syslog on the ESXi host we see these messages:

 level="ERROR" errorCode="OPSAGENT00103"] [SendMsg] failed to send message (type:com.vmware.nsx.switching.VifMsg) to mpa

level="ERROR" errorCode="MPA41541"] [MP_AddVnicAttachment] RPC call [vcd-########-####-####-############;activity=urn:uuid:########-####-####-####-########-##-############] to NSX management plane failed in sending.

Environment

6.7, 7.x., 8.x

Resolution

Login to the NSX-Manager UI and confirm if there is any connectivity issues between the NSX-Manager and the ESXi hosts where the vApp VMs are being deployed. If they are in disconnected and failed state, that has to be fixed from the NSX side before the vApp can be deployed successfully
