Issue/Introduction

"Error 33 (Inconsistent data) while decompressing data" during the boot process of an ESXi host, suggests an issue related to the ESXi boot image or files being corrupt or incomplete. 

Cause

ESXi Boot image failure or ESXi boot media failure 

Resolution

Option1: Revert to a previous version of ESXi. Please follow Reverting to a previous version of ESXi 6.x, 7.x or 8.x

Option2: Involve Hardware Vendor to check and resolve any Hardware issues in the SD Card or on the Hard Disk.

Option3: Reinstall the ESXi host.
