Issue/Introduction

Validation Server log file:

ERROR "2024-01-15 10:00:00 GMT-0000"  10.10.10.1 VPN_Validation:1812 0 0 "text=RADIUS request with unique Id [232_10.10.1.1_33361] has timed-out. Dropping the request. Will be purged." Thread-3312 VSAuthManageAuthnRequests.cpp

Cause

The VIP Enterprise Gateway RADIUS validation server responded to an incoming request with an ACCESS CHALLENGE and is waiting for a PUSH notification to be accepted or VIP Security code. There was not a response within the timeout value in the Validation Server setting so the the request was purged to free up resourced for new requests.

Note: The Validation Server queues request for 60-seconds. A successfully completed transaction is purged without error after that time. This can be seen in the logs if the log level is set to DEBUG. Example:

DEBUG "2022-01-01 01:01:30.011 GMT+1000"  0.0.0.0 VIP-PUSH:1813 0 0 "text=RADIUS response with unique Id [10.10.0.1_56789] has timed-out. Will be purged." Thread-5404 VSAuthManageAuthnRequests.cpp

Resolution

Users should enter their 6-digit security code or accept the VIP PUSH within the timeout window. The timeout values on the VPN\NAS and in the VIP Validation Server can be adjusted, if necessary.
