Steps for NSX VCP Cluster Install, Update
9.X
Nsx Install:
1. Create a VDS HostSwitch in VC
2. Add VC as compute Manager in NSX
3. Create a VC Cluster with VCP Enabled
You can also enable VCP on an existing cluster. This is called "Transition" workflow.
4. Add hosts to the cluster as needed.
5. Navigate to VCP tab for cluster
6. Start a new draft for the VCP Cluster
Options:
a. CREATE DRAFT: Enter all the needed config options manually.
b. IMPORT FROM FILE: This is a Cluster Desired Doc exported from an identical cluster already prepped using VCP.
c. IMPORT FROM HOST: Select a reference host in cluster and extract config from it. This Config becomes the current cluster config draft.
With this option VCP Framework extract config from not just the given host but from all hosts in cluster and updates the cluster config draft
with "common setting" or "Host Overrides" as appropriate.
7. Edit Draft and add NsxConfig in draft
8. Edit and add VDS config in draft. Every VDS given in TNP needs to be present in VCP DesiredDoc.
9. Edit and add syslog and firewall rule set config in draft. These are preReqs for Nsx Config.
10. Firewall rule set
11. Run Draft - Run PRE-CHECK
12. Run Draft - APPLY CHANGES
13. Monitor remediate progress in Operations details - Remediation status - Summary tab.
14. Check Compliance tab
a. Once remediation is complete it will run and show compliance for each host in cluster.
b. All TransportNodes should be prepped and up on NSX Mgr at this time.
