When looking at the System Event Log in iDRAC on the Dell server you see the following error messages:
"Multi-bit memory errors detected on a memory device at location(s) DIMM_B11. B11 is the label for the memory module. However it could list another module as well.
Other error messages may include: "The system memory has faced an uncorrectable multi-bit memory errors in the non-execution path of a memory device at the location DIMM_B11.
The server may not boot into Security Analytics unless you press F1. It is also possible that the server may not boot at all.
This can either be caused by an old Firmware bug or the memory module may need to be replaced.
Make sure you are running the latest firmware for the Dell appliance. Instructions on how to upgrade the firmware can be found here: Security Analytics on Dell r640xl server not booting after upgrade or new installation attempt
If upgrading the firmware doesn't solve the issue, the memory module can be temporarily removed, which will allow the server to boot into the Security Analytics OS until the memory module can be replaced.
To locate the correct memory module, refer to the following YouTube video: Dell PowerEdge R640 Server Memory Overview & Upgrade | How to Install Memory | Supported DIMMs
Contact technical support to open an RMA with Dell.
The mapping for the memory modules is as follows. The front of the server is towards the bottom.
