Issue/Introduction
- Changing the root Password of your VMware Cloud Director (VCD) Appliance.
- When using VCD 10.5.1 version or later you do not have to update the appliance certificate private key to use the new password.
- Starting with VCD 10.5.1 The certificates command of the cell management tool is deprecated.
Environment
VMware Cloud Director 10.5.1 version or later.
Resolution
To change the root password of a VMware Cloud Director appliance, perform the following steps:
- Log in directly or by using an SSH client to the VMware Cloud Director appliance console as root.
- Run the passwd command and change the password for the root user.
passwd root
